Everything at that night was overdue. The video. The launch. The single.
The night was ripe indeed.
We arrived past 9pm and were overwhelmed with the people already gathered outside Saguijo, having chit-chats with friends and breathing sticks of good ‘ol nicotine. They were all waiting for what we have come up with, you see. We chose not to let the cocktail of pressure and excitement get into our nerves. One bottle of ice cold beer and we’re in the zone.
By 10:30, Bagetsafonik started the set, spewing wistful rhymes with equally wistful melodies
Labelmate The Gentle Isolation came up next. They took the crowd into a summer-y joy ride as they played songs from their twee flavored EP, “It All Started with an April Shower.
When Taken by Cars took the stage, the crowd went into a trance-like mood with bodies gyrating to the pulse of each song. They performed pieces mostly from their upcoming 2nd release. Boy, it’s a must-wait album, we must add.
You can already feel the anticipation building when by midnight, The Camerawalls entertained us with songs so charming, sweetness felt like a disease. Everyone was bobbing their heads.
And endorphin rush was served in a double silver platter when Ciudad went on as the last front act for the night.
It was past 1 in the morning when the countdown to the premiere of the music video began. Ah, the sweet wait.
Despite the few moments of technical glitches, applause and smiles were unwavering when it was unveiled.
Then off to the live set where the headliners (namely US!) delivered a series of originals, new and old while keeping the sing-along vibe alive with lively covers of some Pixies’ tunes and one The Cure classic.
Your Imaginary Friends are forever grateful to all those people who gave us their Wednesday night
and to those who waited patiently ‘til wee hour just to witness the music video
And to those friends and fans who paved way for its creation.
Mabalos!
